Meet Emanuel Caserio, the Italian captivating Netflix audiences with ‘Deceitful Love’

Italian actor Emanuel Caserio reflects on his evolving career, the worldwide success of ‘Deceitful Love’, and why portraying emotionally complex characters is what truly drives his creative journey.

At fifteen, Emanuel Caserio had no idea a casual acting course in his hometown would one day lead to him becoming one of the most recognisable faces in Italian drama. “Lesson after lesson, I realised this was the job I wanted to do when I grew up”, he recalls. The once shy teenager who powered through stage fright now connects with millions on screen.

With a career spanning hit television series like ‘Un medico in famiglia’ (‘A Doctor in the Family’) and ‘Squadra Antimafia’ (‘Anti-Mafia Squad’), and films as varied as ‘Forever Young’ and ‘Odio l’estate’ (‘I Hate Summer’), Caserio has mastered the rhythms of both stage and screen. “Television runs on much tighter schedules than cinema. You have to be quick, focused, and have the goal of the scene clear in your head”, he explains.

In 2018, he took on one of his most beloved roles: Salvatore Amato in ‘Il paradiso delle signore’ (‘Ladies’ Paradise’). “Salvatore has become a small part of me. I’ve grown with him over these years”. But it was in 2024 that his name truly broke out internationally, thanks to the Netflix series ‘Deceitful Love’, where he plays Stefano. The show reached 25 million views, topping charts in Italy and globally.

“Stefano is a fragile man, and I love characters with vulnerabilities. They’re more human, more relatable”, he says. Under the direction of Pappi Corsicato, and acting alongside screen legend Monica Guerritore, Caserio crafted a layered, emotionally rich character. “The real magic happened on set, when voice and body came together with the rest of the cast. That’s when you truly live the character”.

Off camera, his personal style is what he playfully calls “Variable Casual”: one day elegant, the next sporty. While he’s open to stepping into the world of fashion campaigns, his passion lies in storytelling. “I’m drawn to love stories, revenge plots, psychological dramas – anything that explores human emotion”.

From theatre to global streaming success, Emanuel Caserio knows that acting isn’t built only on highlights – it lives in the in-between moments. And it’s precisely there, in the silences, where he shines.
