FENDI supports the restoration of the Grotto of Diana at Villa d’Este, reopening it to the public after nearly 50 years.

From 6 May 2025, the Grotto of Diana at Villa d’Este in Tivoli will reopen to the public after being closed for almost fifty years, thanks to the support of FENDI. This grotto, located beneath the Loggia of the Winds and hidden from view since the 1980s, has undergone two years of restoration, revealing its splendid original design featuring reliefs, statues, and mosaics depicting marine and mythological scenes.

The project was carried out by the Independent Institute of Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este (VILLÆ), with the crucial participation of FENDI. During the restoration, a remarkable array of materials and iconography was uncovered, including caryatids bearing baskets of golden fruit and the white eagle, symbol of the Este family.

In addition to the restoration of decorative elements, the external architectural structures were reinforced, including the installation of a glass panel to protect the loggia from damaging winds. FENDI, known for its commitment to culture in Italy, continues to support projects that preserve the history and beauty of the country’s most iconic sites. Through this intervention, the Grotto of Diana once again becomes a space for cultural exploration and reflection for visitors.
