Chanel returns to New York for the first time since 2018, as Matthieu Blazy honours Lagerfeld with a landmark show.
On 2 December, Chanel will open a bold new chapter as Matthieu Blazy unveils his first Métiers d’Art collection for the house in New York City. This marks the brand’s first return to the Big Apple since Karl Lagerfeld’s final runway presentation in 2018 — a show that remains etched in fashion history.
The upcoming event will celebrate the exceptional craftsmanship of Chanel’s Parisian ateliers, while also serving as a tribute to Lagerfeld’s creative genius. Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel SAS, told WWD: “It was Karl’s last show, so we always get a little nostalgic when we talk about it in-house. But going back to New York with Matthieu and the beginning of a new season is super exciting.”
Blazy, who spent years working under Raf Simons at Calvin Klein in NYC, is expected to channel the city’s raw creative energy through the refined artistry of Chanel. A teaser image combining the double C logo with a vintage subway map hints at a bold blend of heritage, modernity, and urban flair.
While Chanel has yet to confirm the exact location of the show, the date and direction already promise a momentous return to the runway calendar.
