Rapper French Montana has been hit with a $1 million lawsuit filed by two Swiss businessmen who accuse him of stealing a luxury watch they lent him during Paris Fashion Week.
The legal dispute stems from 2024, when French Montana —whose real name is Karim Kharbouch— reconnected with the businessmen in Egypt. According to the lawsuit, the artist requested to borrow their high-end timepiece for 30 days, offering his own watch as collateral and claiming it was also worth $1 million. However, the plaintiffs allege that Montana never returned the original watch and that the one he left behind turned out to be counterfeit.
The claim seeks at least $1 million in damages, accusing the rapper of “unjust enrichment” and “conversion”. Montana’s lawyer, Steve Haddad, has firmly denied the allegations and stated that his client plans to file a countersuit. According to Haddad, the watch was given to Montana as payment for promotional appearances in Egypt, not as a temporary loan.
The case sheds light on the risky nature of informal high-value exchanges in the world of celebrities and luxury collectors, where verbal agreements can swiftly escalate into million-dollar disputes.
