Mark Tuan releases his EP ‘Silhouette’, an intimate and experimental project that marks his artistic evolution as a soloist after GOT7.
Singer and songwriter Mark Tuan is ready to show himself without filters. From his home in Los Angeles, the artist talks about ‘Silhouette’, an EP he describes as a personal introduction to his most honest and emotional self. “We wanted this project to reflect who I really am, beyond the stage,” he says.
With a sound that blends alternative pop, indie nuances, and rock energy, ‘Silhouette’ marks a turning point in his career. Following the success of songs like ‘High as You’ —a sensual and elegant track— Tuan reconnects with his roots in ‘Hold Still’, a powerful, rhythm-driven piece that pays homage to his past in the K-pop universe.
Korean influence also runs through his music videos, where choreography becomes a narrative and creative vehicle. “I wanted this EP to reflect not only my sound but also my stage identity,” he explains. In recent months, the artist has launched several dance challenges with fellow performers, strengthening his bond with fans through social media.
The title of the EP refers to its lead track, ‘Sunsets and Cigarettes’, a melancholic ode to love and memory. “This is my silhouette —the portrait of who I am and how I want to be seen,” Tuan reflects.
Born in Los Angeles and discovered by a JYP Entertainment talent scout, Mark Tuan moved to South Korea as a teenager and debuted in 2014 with GOT7, one of the most influential K-pop groups. Over the years, he and his bandmates —Jackson Wang, BamBam, and others— have pursued their own creative paths while keeping the group’s global connection alive.
Now, the singer introduces Re:Mark, a new digital community for his fans, where he will share exclusive content and glimpses of his daily life. “I want fans to see my everyday side —the most natural version of me,” he says.
With touring plans and a new album in the works, Mark Tuan is preparing for his next chapter. “I want to return to the stage and connect face to face with the audience. That’s what motivates me most right now.”
