The release of Ed Sheeran ‘s fifth studio album , Subtract, is fast approaching and is scheduled for May 5, 2023. The British artist has just released a new single and music video, debuting the first song he wrote for the album.
Titled “Boat,” the song continues to explore Sheeran’s battle with depression and is set against slow-paced guitar melodies that provide a reflective undertone to the somber lyrics. The music video shows Sheeran hitting the UK coastline as he enters the ocean and is swallowed by hostile waves. As the finale approaches, dozens of broken items are tossed into the water, flying over the musician’s head as he sings the chorus, “Maybe I won’t, but the waves won’t break my boat.”
