Blake Lively pays tribute to Britney Spears at the premiere of ‘It Ends With Us’ with an iconic 2002 Versace dress.
Blake Lively‘s press tour for ‘It Ends With Us,’ filled with flowers and fashion, has been the talk of the town, and last night at the movie’s premiere in New York, the actress decided to surprise us once again.
Lively honored Britney Spears by wearing a dress that the iconic singer made famous in 2002. The actress donned a colorful Versace dress from the Fall 2002 collection, the same one Spears wore to attend Versace’s Spring show in Milan. Lively’s look, sourced from Tab Vintage, turned out to be an artistic, sequin-filled version of the sheer dress. It featured pink, light blue, and yellow crystal embroidery. The plunging neckline, which transformed into a strap over the actress’s shoulder, further accentuated the dress’s form-fitting silhouette. Lively complemented her pastel outfit with metallic heels and dazzling jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.
On the red carpet, Lively confirmed that her dress was indeed the same one worn by Spears. “It’s the original Britney dress,” Lively told reporters. “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it’s on me. I feel so lucky!”
Lively also referenced Spears’ 2002 beauty look, styling her famous blonde mane in voluminous waves. Later, at the after-party, Lively joined the lingerie-as-outerwear trend, wearing a pale pink corset dress with boudoir-inspired details.
Before hitting the red carpet, Lively shared an emotional message for Spears on Instagram, thanking her for inspiring an entire generation.
