The Legally Blonde prequel series is looking for a young Elle Woods with an open casting call on Amazon.

No objections here. The Legally Blonde prequel series on Amazon Prime Video has launched an open casting call for the lead role in the series.

Reese Witherspoon made the announcement on her Instagram on Wednesday. “Our search for the high school version of Elle Woods is officially ON!” Witherspoon wrote in the post. “With our friends at @primevideo, we’re making the casting process totally OPEN, so you can submit your auditions at the link in my bio… I’m SO excited to see all your fabulous takes on everyone’s favorite Gemini vegetarian!”

The prequel was officially ordered at Prime Video last May. Currently titled Elle, the series synopsis states that it “follows Elle Woods in high school as we get to know the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde movie.”

The series is created by Laura Kittrell, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Witherspoon will executive produce alongside Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine, part of Candle Media. Lauren Kisilevsky and Marc Platt will also serve as executive producers. Amazon MGM Studios will handle production.

Witherspoon played Elle Woods in the two Legally Blonde movies. The first film, based on the novel of the same name by Amanda Brown, premiered in 2001 and was a huge success, grossing over $140 million worldwide. The sequel was released in 2003, followed by the direct-to-video film Legally Blondes in 2009, in which Witherspoon served as a producer rather than an actress. A musical adaptation debuted on Broadway in 2007.
