After years of anticipation, the American superstar wins the Grammy for Album of the Year with her groundbreaking country record, marking a musical milestone.

After four unsuccessful attempts, Beyoncé has finally claimed the coveted Album of the Year award at the 2025 Grammys with her innovative country album Cowboy Carter. The American superstar, who had previously been overlooked in this category for I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), Beyoncé (2013), Lemonade (2016), and Renaissance (2022), celebrated this triumph with an emotional speech at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

“I feel truly honoured. It has been many, many years of waiting,” said the 43-year-old artist upon receiving the award. She also dedicated the prize to Linda Martell, a country music pioneer and the first Black woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, who appears on two tracks of the album.

Beyoncé’s victory was not her only milestone of the night. She also won Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus on II Most Wanted, extending her record as the most awarded artist in Grammy history, now holding 35 trophies.

In a night full of surprises, Taylor Swift presented her with the award for Best Country Album, while Kendrick Lamar took home Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Not Like Us. Additionally, Lady Gaga used her speech to raise awareness about trans rights, and Shakira dedicated her award to Latino immigrants in the U.S.

The ceremony, hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year, also had a strong social focus, raising funds for those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. An unforgettable event that made music history.
