Matthieu Blazy brought fantasy and joy to the Bottega Veneta runway in Milan, exploring fashion through a childlike innocence.
Bottega Veneta‘s Spring 2025 show, under Matthieu Blazy‘s direction, infused a playful and fantastical touch into Milan Fashion Week. From the very beginning, attendees were greeted with a whimsical atmosphere: animal-shaped chairs, such as foxes and penguins, replaced the usual benches. These were created by the Italian firm Sacco Zanato, reminiscent of the iconic scene in E.T. where Elliot confuses the extraterrestrial with his stuffed animals.
Blazy drew on this inspiration to explore fashion from a childlike perspective. The garments evoked the image of a child trying on their parents’ clothes, featuring oversized suits in gray and red hues. Some pieces surprised with their proportions and asymmetries, such as unevenly cut trousers or jumpsuits that combined skirts and pant legs.

The designer also played with materials, blurring expectations: what appeared to be denim turned out to be merino wool, while a leather vest elongated into a sophisticated piece. Animals appeared both in the set design and on the garments, adding a touch of sweetness.
This collection stood out not only for its technique but also for its injection of joy and spontaneity, offering a much-needed breath of fresh air in an often serious and calculated fashion landscape.
