Christopher Kane presented his first collection for Self-Portrait as part of the brand’s innovative creative residency program.

Christopher Kane has taken a major step in his career by becoming the first resident designer for Self-Portrait‘s new initiative, launched by founder Han Chong. The program, which seeks to foster creative collaboration within fashion, allowed Kane to explore his signature innovative style within the facilities of Harella House, the brand’s London headquarters. The debut collection was presented on November 21, 2024, marking a triumphant return for the designer after overcoming financial challenges with his own label in recent years.

The launch was elevated by the presence of Carine Roitfeld, fashion icon and director of CR Fashion Book. Her participation included looks that highlighted the collection’s DNA: pieces that combine sensuality and structure, with touches of crystals and lace that reflect Kane’s approach to accessible luxury. According to Lena Dunham, who also attended a preview, the collection is “stunning and absolutely exquisite.”

Han Chong commented that the residency program seeks to go beyond traditional fashion, exploring different aspects of lifestyle and offering designers the support they need to express their unique vision.

The collaboration with Kane represents a bold step for Self-Portrait, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and community in the fashion industry.
