Connor Storrie has said goodbye to his signature curls while filming Heated Rivalry season 2, sparking questions about Ilya Rozanov’s transformation.
Connor Storrie has unveiled a dramatic new look just as production gets under way on the highly anticipated Heated Rivalry season 2. The 26-year-old actor, whose distinctive curly hair has become closely associated with his public image and his character Ilya Rozanov, has shaved off his famous locks in favour of a striking buzz cut.
Rumours surrounding the transformation began circulating last week, but confirmation finally arrived after a new photograph emerged on Sunday, 23 August. Storrie was pictured having a meal with his Heated Rivalry co-star Christina Chang in Toronto, where filming for the second season is taking place.
The image quickly attracted attention because it offered the clearest look yet at Storrie’s dramatically shorter hairstyle. According to a fan account dedicated to updates about the actor, the photograph was taken around midday in Toronto.
Unsurprisingly, the reaction from viewers was immediate. Connor Storrie’s curly hair had become one of his most recognisable features during the success of the first season, and fans flooded social media with reactions to its disappearance. Others immediately began wondering whether the transformation could offer a clue about what awaits Ilya Rozanov in Heated Rivalry season 2.

The timing certainly makes the speculation understandable. Production on the new episodes has begun, meaning any major physical transformation by one of the leading actors inevitably raises questions about whether it has been made specifically for the character.
However, Storrie has actually been talking about wanting to shave his head for months.
While promoting the first season of Heated Rivalry in December 2025, the actor responded to a fan discussing his curly-hair routine and admitted that he was already thinking about making a dramatic change.
“I’m ready to cut this stuff off if y’all want me to be completely honest,” Storrie said. “I’m ready to shave my head. I don’t know who’s out there, but someone hire me and give me a crazy haircut.”
The comments were not an isolated joke. Only a few weeks later, during a January Vogue “Get Ready With Me” video, Storrie once again mentioned the possibility of losing his curls while groomer Kerrie Urban worked on his hair.
“Just wait until we do something, and until we cut it all off,” he teased before adding: “I want to.”
His latest transformation therefore appears to fulfil a style change he had been considering for some time. Whether Heated Rivalry season 2 provided the perfect opportunity remains unclear.
Storrie has worn considerably shorter hair for previous roles. While shooting the upcoming film April X in 2024, he appeared with a more closely cropped style. The sci-fi thriller is now preparing for its September release, with a recently unveiled trailer offering audiences another glimpse of the actor away from the character that has dramatically increased his profile.
The contrast is particularly striking because Storrie was photographed in Toronto with Hudson Williams only weeks ago, shortly before production on the second season began, and his curls were still very much intact.
The haircut arrives during an increasingly busy period in Connor Storrie’s career. Alongside his return as Ilya Rozanov, the actor has several projects attracting attention.
He has been linked to the forthcoming adaptation of The Bell Jar, reportedly involving Billie Eilish, while another potential project could place him alongside singer Gracie Abrams in the A24 film Please.
