Disney has unveiled the first trailer for ‘Snow White,’ featuring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, in a modern reinterpretation of the classic tale.
During the D23 event, Disney revealed the first glimpse of its live-action adaptation of the 1937 classic ‘Snow White.’ The teaser showcases Rachel Zegler as the iconic princess and Gal Gadot in the role of the Evil Queen.
Directed by Marc Webb, the trailer offers glimpses of the Seven Dwarfs, who accompany Snow White in their cottage as they sing and dance. However, the film has been surrounded by controversy due to the initial decision to replace the dwarfs with “magical creatures” in an attempt to modernize the story. After facing criticism, Disney opted to redesign the film, featuring the original dwarfs in CGI.
The movie also departs from the romantic focus of the original. Zegler has expressed her disagreement with the 1937 version, describing the Prince as a “stalker” and the plot as “weird.” Instead, this new version centers on Snow White’s independence and leadership.
‘Snow White’ is set to premiere in theaters on March 21, promising a more complex and modern take on the classic story, where both the Evil Queen and the princess face their own challenges.
