Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts team up in Ruin, an intense thriller set in postwar Germany.

Gal Gadot continues to expand her film presence with a new and promising project set during World War II. The Israeli actress will share the screen with Matthias Schoenaerts in Ruin, a thriller directed by Niki Caro, known for her work on Mulan and The Mother.

Set in war-ravaged Germany, Ruin tells the story of a recently liberated concentration camp prisoner, played by Gadot, who forms an unexpected alliance with a German soldier, portrayed by Schoenaerts. Together, they embark on a dangerous mission of revenge against a unit of the feared Schutzstaffel (Nazi SS).

The film promises to explore not only the emotional aftermath of the conflict but also the complex moral choices of its protagonists. With a raw and human-centered approach, the project is shaping up to be an intense drama that aims to redefine the war genre from a contemporary perspective.

Filming is set to begin in early 2026, and while there is no official release date yet, Ruin is already generating buzz among film enthusiasts for its powerful premise and the talent assembled both in front of and behind the camera. Could this be Gadot’s next standout performance?
