The iconic designer has officially left his position at Celine, after revolutionizing the French luxury house since 2018.

As is already well known in the fashion world, Hedi Slimane left Celine yesterday in a statement that the LVMH brand published on social networks a day after the end of the Paris fashion week.

The former creative director of Celine, is one of the leading candidates to take over the artistic direction of Chanel after the recent departure of Virginie Viard. Slimane, known for revolutionizing men’s fashion and leaving his mark in houses like Dior or Saint Laurent. Although it is true that the last Chanel collection executed by his own team has been one of the most decent since the departure of Virgin, will Hedi Slimane be the definitive one to bring the brand back on everyone’s lips?

This latest Slimane’s collection for Celine has served as an indication of what he could bring to Chanel: a fresh and modern vision, but deeply anchored in Parisian aesthetics. Karl Lagerfeld, who headed Chanel for decades, always had admiration for Slimane, even adapting his personal style to dress the designer’s creations. This reinforces rumors that Slimane could be next in line to lead the house.

Will we see Hedi Slimane take the reins of the Chanel team or will it remain a theory only supported by all the fashion victims who want Chanel to return to what it was?
