Henry Cavill announced his departure from ‘The Witcher’ late last year.
The 40-year-old actor has portrayed Geralt in the Netflix fantasy series from the beginning, and fans were surprised by the news, as were his co-stars, who actually didn’t find out until months after they finished filming.
In a new interview, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, and Joey Batey revealed that the news hit them months after they finished filming, and it wasn’t Henry who told them, but the show’s creator, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
“We found out a few months later,” Freya shared with Insider. “We just finished a season like any other season, and I think we were all exhausted. We’ve all worked so hard and really stayed as a team throughout the whole process, so they were good lasting memories.”
She added that “we found out quite a while after, so it wasn’t like we knew at that time.”

In a separate interview, Therica Wilson-Read spoke about Liam Hemsworth taking on the role.
“He’s wonderful, and he played a wonderful Geralt. No one can deny that. I think everyone on the cast and crew wish him all the best,” she said about Henry before adding that “Liam is also a wonderful actor and a wonderful human being, just like Henry is.”
‘The Witcher’ will premiere on Thursday, June 29th on Netflix.
