Issey Miyake FW25 presents a collection that blends art and fashion, exploring ambiguity through transformative garments.
The Issey Miyake FW25 collection, titled ‘[N]either [N]or’, presented on March 7 at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, is a profound reflection on ambiguity and change. Under the creative direction of Satoshi Kondo, the collection draws inspiration from the conceptual art of Erwin Wurm, particularly his One Minute Sculptures, where the audience’s interaction with the artwork redefines the art experience. Miyake, always at the forefront of innovation, brings this approach to fashion, where garments not only dress the body but interact with it.

Through four thematic pillars—Abstract Concrete, Body Object, Nature Fabrication, and Clothing Sculpture—the collection explores new ways to express the relationship between fashion, the body, and art. The garments are presented in ways that challenge traditional structures: asymmetric cuts, sleeves used as accessories, and the combination of layers and seemingly discordant materials. This approach transforms the runway into a stage of transformative ambiguity.
The collection captivated with its 50 looks, standing out for its ability to merge the sculptural with the everyday. With details such as unusually shaped puffer coats and vibrant sweaters, Miyake redefines the male silhouette for an unpredictable future.
