Jade Thirlwall opened Pride Month 2025 with a defiant message to J.K. Rowling — echoed by thousands at Mighty Hoopla.
British pop icon Jade Thirlwall kicked off Pride Month 2025 with a fierce and unapologetic performance at Mighty Hoopla Festival in South London, where she delivered a clear message: transphobia and performative allyship will not go unchecked.
During her track ‘FUFN (Fck U For Now)’, the former Little Mix star prompted the crowd to shout “fck you” to homophobes, transphobes, and empty gestures of support. But the loudest uproar came when Jade named J.K. Rowling — triggering a wave of middle fingers and a thunderous chant of rejection.
Rowling, who has made headlines for her anti-trans views, recently celebrated a UK Supreme Court ruling excluding trans women from protections under the Equality Act. She posted a photo smoking a cigar with the caption: “I love it when a plan comes together.”
In response, The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal, whose sister is trans, commented on an activist’s video condemning Rowling’s post: “Awful disgusting s— is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behaviour.”
Jade’s stand was more than a performance — it was a statement. In 2025, Pride is resistance. And the crowd made sure the message was heard.
