Jennie honours history and redefines Chanel at the 2025 Met Gala with a tuxedo that blends elegance with cultural awareness.

Jennie has once again conquered the steps of the Met, this time channelling the purest legacy of the maison she most closely represents: Chanel. For her third consecutive appearance at the Gala, the Blackpink star opted for a black tuxedo-dress designed by the French house, embodying a modern-day Coco Chanel in perfect harmony with the evening’s theme: ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’.

Her choice was not merely stylistic, but also symbolic: wearing a look from a house historically associated with the white European elite during periods of systemic oppression of Black communities added historical weight to the Gala’s narrative. Jennie didn’t just wear Chanel—she redefined it and brought it into dialogue with the present.

The South Korean artist was spotted leaving her hotel with a serene and powerful presence, staying true to the understated, elegant style she has refined in recent appearances. This moment adds to an unstoppable spring: a performance at Coachella, the release of her album Ruby, and Blackpink’s imminent return with new music and a world tour.

“I wanted to take a leap, step out of my comfort zone,” she told Billboard. “If this is my life, I have to explore and learn.”
