Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle lead the cast of ‘The Altruists’, Netflix’s upcoming limited series centred on the FTX financial scandal.

Netflix has officially confirmed the casting of Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle as the leads in ‘The Altruists’, an eight-episode limited series that will chronicle the meteoric rise and dramatic fall of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Produced by Higher Ground, the company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, the series promises an in-depth and gripping portrayal of the events that shook the financial world.

Julia Garner, acclaimed for her performances in Ozark and Inventing Anna, will portray Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research and a central figure in the FTX saga. Anthony Boyle, known for Masters of the Air and Say Nothing, will take on the role of Sam Bankman-Fried, the controversial founder of the crypto empire.

The official synopsis hints at a compelling narrative: “The story of Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, two hyper-intelligent, ambitious young idealists who sought to remake the global financial system overnight—seducing, persuading and deceiving one another, all while stealing $8 billion.”

The series will be helmed by showrunners and executive producers Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt, promising a rich and detailed account of the case that rocked the financial industry. While Netflix has yet to announce an official release date, ‘The Altruists’ is expected to premiere in 2026.

With Garner and Boyle at the helm, ‘The Altruists’ is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated dramas, blending financial scandal, unchecked ambition and a human story with shades of a thriller.
