Kelly Rowland is recalling the “biggest mistake” she made during an interview, and she still feels bad about it over a decade later.
The 42-year-old singer, known for her hit “Motivation,” revisited that moment during an appearance on the “Yeah, I F-cked That Up” podcast and explained how it involved her Destiny’s Child bandmate and friend, Beyoncé, and her daughter, Blue Ivy.
“Oh, my God. When I made a mistake and revealed the sex of Bey’s baby when she was pregnant with Blue,” Kelly recalled. “That was the worst moment ever. The worst moment ever.”
She explained that it was “a big mistake” and that she didn’t even realize she had said anything until the headlines started appearing. “I was like, ‘What are they talking about? I didn’t say… Oh, my God!'”
“It was bad because it was no one’s business,” she added.
“I felt terrible because it’s not my news,” Kelly continued. “It was honestly the worst. It wasn’t my news to share, and I didn’t mean it like that. The ‘she’ just kind of slipped out. I was like, ‘Uh oh.'”
What interview was it? In 2011, Kelly used “she” to describe Beyoncé’s then-unborn baby in an interview with Us Weekly. Interestingly, this isn’t the only time Kelly has accidentally revealed a baby’s gender.
