Natalie Portman was the center of attention when she arrived on the red carpet at the premiere of her new film “May December” wearing a dress by Dior.

The actress, who has been an ambassador for the brand’s perfume division since 2010, wore a design based on a museum piece created by Christian Dior himself in 1949. We’re talking about the Junon Dress, which is currently on display at the MET in New York.

This iconic dress was created by Christian Dior in the post-war era when women longed to dress sumptuously and was named after the goddess Hera.

“The magnificent skirt of graded petals, like abstractions of peacock feathers without their ‘eyes,’ makes an oblique reference to the bird associated with the Queen of the Olympic Games,” describes the MET’s archive about the dress.

The perfect recreation that the actress wore in Cannes is a homage to the original strapless piece with a skirt adorned with perfectly symmetrical petals.
