Orlando Bloom presented the exclusive Porsche Design Chronograph 1 watch in New York, highlighting his passion for watchmaking and automobiles.

British actor Orlando Bloom was the star of the evening in New York as he officially unveiled his collaboration as ambassador for Porsche Design’s watch and eyewear collections. The film star, known for his passion for cars and high-end watchmaking, took part in an exclusive event held at the Watches of Switzerland boutique in SoHo, where the new Chronograph 1 – 1975 Limited Edition model was revealed, a luxury piece crafted from untreated titanium and produced in a limited edition.

Famous for his roles in legendary franchises such as ‘The Lord of the Rings‘ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘, Bloom has built a strong reputation not only on the big screen but also as a collector of Porsche cars and luxury watches. His first encounter with the brand came at the age of 14, when he was impressed by a Porsche 911. Years later, following his first major Hollywood success, he acquired a 1973 911 model, beginning a collection that has continued to grow.

During the event, dozens of guests gathered to witness a unique conversation between Bloom, Ferdi Porsche — great-grandson of the brand’s founder — and Ben Clymer, founder of Hodinkee, one of the most respected voices in the world of watchmaking. The evening was also marked by the presence of classic Porsche models parked along Greene Street, turning the neighbourhood into a showcase of automotive elegance.

Bloom shared with the audience his evolution as a watch collector, from his first acquisitions such as a vintage Rolex to pieces by Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. However, he currently prefers to always wear a Porsche chronograph, for its design, functionality, and emotional connection to the brand.

The limited edition presented pays homage to the original 1975 design, a piece that combines timeless aesthetics with precision engineering. The exclusivity of the model and its brand history aim to appeal to both collectors and enthusiasts of German industrial design.

In addition to his role as Porsche Design ambassador, Bloom continues to expand his presence in film. He recently premiered the comedy Deep Cover on Amazon Prime, where he explores a more humorous side. His next project, ‘The Cut‘, is a psychological thriller in which he plays a boxer coming out of retirement, a role that required an extreme physical transformation, losing more than 12 kilos to reflect the character’s demands.

The New York launch marks a key moment in the relationship between Porsche Design and the entertainment world, reaffirming the trend of uniting luxury brands with well-known personalities to connect with new audiences.
