Actress Sarah Jessica Parker from ‘And Just Like That’ addresses the situation regarding Samantha’s appearance.

For longtime Sex and the City fans, it’s no secret that co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall are far from being as close as their on-screen characters after their highly publicized feud…

That’s precisely why fans were surprised to learn that Kim would be reprising her role as Samantha Jones in Season 2 of And Just Like That (despite the premiere of her upcoming “rival” show Glamorous, which launches on the same day as AJLT). And now, Sarah Jessica Parker has finally addressed her co-star’s return.

Breaking her silence about Samantha’s comeback, Sarah, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, said, “We’ve been really thoughtful about the way we’ve approached characters that weren’t present, the way we’ve invited the actors back. It’s been really fun and exciting and certainly nostalgic, but I think more than that, it’s been a great joy.”

But after fans speculated that a rekindled friendship might be on the horizon, Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte Goldenblatt, had to clarify some hard truths.

“We just thought it would be fun for the fans to have a little bit of Samantha because we know they miss her, and she’s such a great character,” she explained, adding, “I don’t know if we’re looking for closure at this moment, or resolution.”

“I don’t think we intended to raise the expectations to that level. So I hope people aren’t disappointed.”

It’s not just the two actresses who have commented on Kim’s return. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbs, talked about the uncomfortable atmosphere on set while working alongside Kim.

She said, “It makes a huge difference not to have to walk on eggshells around somebody who’s unhappy for reasons that are very hard to understand.”

Kim will be returning to the SATC universe, with Samantha seen talking to Carrie on the phone in an upcoming episode. But despite sharing the same screen, it was reported that there was no interaction between the actresses, and Evan Handler, co-star and actor of Harry Goldenblatt, recently claimed that Kim filmed her part “in a garage” without interacting with any cast members.

The feud between the stars has persisted for a long time, starting after the series ended in 2004. It was reported that the four main stars were never truly close, and a “mean girls culture” slowly took hold on set.

But in 2018, a public post left little doubt in fans’ minds about what had happened behind the scenes. After reports of Kim’s brother’s passing, SJP expressed her condolences to her co-star, and Kim responded, “Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already). You are not my family. You are not my friend.”

But with Kim’s return to the world of SATC, there is still hope that this feud is softening, even if it means filming in separate rooms.
