After Hailey Bieber’s interview with WSJ. Magazine, Selena Gomez speaks out with grace, urging fans to choose empathy over rivalry.

Selena Gomez has broken her silence following Hailey Bieber’s recent comments to WSJ. Magazine, where the model addressed the ongoing comparisons between the two —and the supposed rivalry fuelled by years of fan speculation.

“It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that,” Hailey admitted, later adding: “When people want to see you a certain way, and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”

When asked about Rhode and Rare Beauty being sold in the same stores, Hailey noted: “I think there is space for everybody. I don’t feel competitive with people I’m not inspired by.”

Shortly after, Selena Gomez addressed the situation through an Instagram Story (later deleted, but still visible on Facebook), writing:

“Just leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants —it doesn’t affect my life whatsoever. It’s about relevance, not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There’s room for everyone. And hopefully, we can all stop.”

Selena’s words have been widely praised for their calm and compassionate tone, reinforcing her commitment to kindness, emotional maturity and solidarity among women —values she’s consistently championed throughout her career.
