HBO’s series, The Idol, has been on air for just four weeks… and the show is already about to conclude its first season.
In a surprising announcement, the season finale of the new series will air on Sunday, July 2nd. The first season of the show will wrap up after the fifth episode.

Here’s a summary of the plot: “After a nervous breakdown interrupted Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she is determined to reclaim her rightful status as America’s biggest and sexiest pop star. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (The Weeknd), a nightclub entrepreneur with a shady past. Will her romantic awakening lead her to glorious new heights or the darkest depths of her soul?”
Deadline reported that the first season was originally believed to consist of six episodes, but there were later “creative changes” following the departure of original director Amy Seimetz.
