Sydney Sweeney is said to have missed the final cut of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, where she was set to appear in a scene alongside Emily Charlton.

Sydney Sweeney will reportedly not appear in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ after all. Although her presence on set last summer sparked widespread speculation about a potential cameo, a new report suggests her scene has been removed from the final edit due to creative decisions.

According to information published on 21 April by Entertainment Weekly, the actress filmed a brief appearance of around three minutes, in which she played herself. The scene was positioned at the beginning of the film and formed part of the reintroduction of Emily Charlton, the character portrayed by Emily Blunt, who now works for a major luxury company. In that sequence, Emily acted as Sweeney’s stylist, with the actress appearing as a high-profile client.

However, the outlet reports that the scene did not fully align with the structure of the film’s opening. A source cited by the publication explained that the segment “didn’t work structurally with the rest of the sequence”, leading the team to make the difficult decision to remove it from the final cut, despite a positive reception to Sweeney’s performance.

The news has drawn even more attention given that ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is said to feature multiple celebrity cameos, including Lady Gaga. Notably, Sweeney did not attend the film’s New York premiere on 20 April, where confirmed attendees included Lady Gaga and Ciara, a detail that now appears more significant in light of this development.

In the sequel, Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, reunites with her former boss Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci) at Runway, as they navigate a scandal threatening the publication. Amid the crisis, they turn to Emily Charlton, who has become a key figure within the luxury industry.

Although her cameo will not appear in the film, there is still a possibility that Sydney Sweeney’s scene could be released later as deleted content when the film becomes available for digital purchase or streaming, though no official confirmation has been made. The actress has not yet commented on the reports.
