The NCT leader unveils his most experimental and personal project to date, blending hip-hop, hyperpop, jazz and raw emotional storytelling across ten tracks.
TAEYONG is entering a completely new chapter of his artistic career. The NCT 127 leader has officially released ‘WYLD’, his first full-length solo album, a ten-track project that confirms his position as one of the most creatively ambitious figures in modern K-pop.
Far from following predictable formulas, ‘WYLD’ embraces a genre-defying approach that moves fluidly between hip-hop, rock, jazz, electronic music, hyperpop and future bass. The album feels intentionally chaotic, emotionally charged and deeply connected to the experimental identity that has long defined both TAEYONG and the wider NCT universe.
The artist participated directly in the writing and co-production of the project, reinforcing the personal nature of the record. According to TAEYONG himself, the album reflects a period of artistic growth and self-reflection that has shaped his evolution over the past two years.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to sharing this album. Over the past two years, I spent a lot of time looking back on my previous work, learning, and pushing myself to grow. I worked on this album with the hope of showing a more evolved side of myself, and I hope it becomes a project that awakens your musical instincts,” he explained.
The album’s title track, ‘WYLD’, immediately establishes the project’s intense sonic direction. Driven by aggressive basslines, explosive percussion and layered experimental production, the song channels the untamed energy of wild animals while lyrically focusing on ambition, instinct and refusing to hold back.
Yet the album’s strength lies precisely in its unpredictability. Tracks such as ‘Storm’ and ‘Skiii’ embrace the harder, high-intensity rap energy associated with NCT’s sound, while songs like ‘Hypnotic’ introduce jazz influences and smoother textures. Meanwhile, ‘Mermaid’ leans into a melancholic alt-R&B atmosphere that reveals a far more vulnerable side of the artist.
One of the project’s most emotionally significant moments arrives through ‘404 Euphoria’, where TAEYONG explores themes of confusion, emotional fragmentation and internal conflict. The song continues the recurring “404” narrative thread previously introduced throughout his earlier solo releases, subtly expanding the mythology surrounding his discography.
Elsewhere, tracks such as ‘Feeling Myself’ push into shapeshifting hyperpop territory, while ‘I’m A Dancing Cactus’ introduces a playful, almost surreal energy that highlights TAEYONG’s refusal to remain creatively confined.
The release also arrives during a particularly important moment for NCT, as the group approaches its tenth anniversary. Over the years, TAEYONG has established himself not only as a performer, but also as one of the defining creative forces behind the group’s identity, helping shape its visual language, experimental sound and performance direction.
Since making his solo debut with ‘SHALALA’ in 2023 and following it with ‘TAP’ in 2024, the artist has steadily built a distinct musical identity outside of the group format. Both projects received strong critical acclaim, with many praising his willingness to challenge the conventional boundaries of K-pop solo releases.
