The new film ‘Melania’ reveals how fashion shapes the public power of Melania Trump, showcasing creative processes, aesthetic decisions and intimate moments.

Melania Trump returns to the centre of cultural debate with a new documentary that promises to reveal, as never before, the weight of fashion in her public image. Titled ‘Melania’, the production — acquired in a deal valued at around $40 million — will arrive in international cinemas on 30 January and is already shaping up to be one of 2025’s most talked-about releases.

The film follows the twenty days leading up to the presidential inauguration, offering an unprecedented window into the creative process behind the wardrobes that have defined the former First Lady. Designers such as Hervé Pierre, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Adam Lippes appear crafting some of the most iconic looks worn by Melania Trump — from the black-and-white gown of the inaugural balls to the satin tuxedo she chose for her official White House portrait. The footage also includes intimate preparation moments inside Blair House, as well as scenes showing the making of the blue-and-white Eric Javits hat remembered by millions for its presence at the Inauguration Day ceremony.

The trailer shows Pierre intensely sketching the 2025 inaugural-night gown, reaffirming the central role of fashion as political, aesthetic and strategic language. For the stylist, working with Melania remains “a method of precision”, where every choice is conceived for an environment of constant cameras. The documentary, produced by Amazon and MGM, also brings together names such as Brett Ratner, Fernando Sulichin and Marc Beckman, the figures behind what is already considered the largest documentary deal in recent history.

The production also highlights the presence of Barron Trump, seen wearing a custom dark suit by Bespoke Pearce, reinforcing the family narrative around fashion as a symbol of status and continuity. The premiere coincides with another headline-making announcement: the engagement of Don Jr., who is set to marry model Bettina Anderson, a regular figure in the social circuit and closely tied to the fashion world.

‘Melania’ positions itself as a sophisticated portrait of power, wardrobe and public projection — and as a reminder of how fashion remains a key tool for shaping political narrative and iconic personality in 2025.
