Taylor Swift dazzled at the VMAs afterparty with an alien-inspired dress that might be filled with hidden clues.

Taylor Swift surprised on the red carpet of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards with a look inspired by her Reputation era, but it was her outfit for the afterparty that sparked more speculation among her fans. After winning seven awards, Swift attended Sabrina Carpenter’s party at Electric Lady Studios, where she wore a dress from Monse’s 2025 resort collection, featuring a striking print of an alien scene. The design, inspired by 1950s tapestries, depicted figures watching a UFO, and Swift paired it with a matching jacket and Vivienne Westwood boots.

Swifties immediately linked the dress to the song “Down Bad” from her new album The Tortured Poets Department. In it, Taylor sings about “cosmic love,” comparing an intense relationship to an extraterrestrial abduction. Many fans believe the lyrics reference her brief romance with Matty Healy.

Additionally, Taylor recorded much of her new album at Electric Lady Studios, the venue of the party, adding even more mystery to her fashion choice. Although there was no announcement regarding Reputation (Taylor’s Version), the night’s details left fans anticipating more surprises.
