The iconic “Naked” dress by Kate Moss, designed by Liza Bruce, is up for auction, unveiling the legendary moment in fashion.

Here’s the story behind the viral—sorry, famous—fashion moment. The vintage and antique fashion auction house, Kerry Taylor Auctions, announces the sale of Kate Moss‘s “Naked” dress.

Designed by Liza Bruce, the famous strappy dress became Moss’s most iconic fashion moment as a young model. At just 19 years old at the time, the British model was about to make fashion history, and she had no idea.

At the time, she arrived at the London Hilton for the Elite model agency’s “Look of the Year” party, and the paparazzi were everywhere. Posing for the paparazzi under intense lighting, she had no idea she was completely exposed under the sheer material. Like a true model, she did what she had to for the cameras, slightly surprised by the level of attention she was receiving.

Upon entering, she learned that her dress was see-through, revealing her black underwear—and everything else. “It was the flash that made it see-through because actually the fabric when I wore it, when I left the house I didn’t think it was so see-through. But obviously, it was,” she told British Vogue. She later joked, “I mean, if I’d known I was going to be talking about it 30 years later… good dress, good night.”

The dress, which went viral in the 90s version, doesn’t seem to impress Generation Z, who are discovering this historic fashion moment. “I love that interview where she said she didn’t know it was going to be see-through until she saw the photos, how could she not have known?” commented an Instagram user.
