Lee Cronin directs the highly anticipated return of The Mummy, a modern reinvention of the classic, set to arrive in April 2026.

A new chapter in ‘The Mummy’ universe is officially in development at New Line Cinema. The film, written and directed by Lee Cronin, known for his work on ‘Evil Dead Rise,’ will hit cinemas on 17th April 2026. While plot details remain under wraps, it is expected that Cronin will bring a modern twist to this classic horror tale.

The project boasts a prominent production team. The companies Doppelgängers, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse will be behind the film, with James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville serving as producers. Additionally, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher will take on the role of executive producers.

‘The Mummy’ franchise first debuted in 1932 under the direction of Karl Freund but regained popularity in the late 90s and early 2000s with the iconic trilogy starring Brendan Fraser. A 2017 reboot, led by Tom Cruise, failed to achieve the expected success.

At this point, it remains unknown whether the new film will feature familiar characters or take a completely different direction. What is certain is that the return of ‘The Mummy’ promises a fresh take for a contemporary audience.
