Victoria’s Secret has taken its website offline following a security incident, affecting online shopping and causing concern among customers and investors.
Victoria’s Secret surprised its customers by taking its official website offline since Sunday, right in the middle of the Memorial Day sales campaign. The company confirmed on Wednesday that the disruption was due to a “security incident” and that precautionary measures are being taken to protect user data.
Shares of Victoria’s Secret & Co. fell by 6.8%, reflecting investors’ worries about the decline in the e-commerce channel, which is vital for current sales.
A notice on the homepage states: “We have deactivated our website and certain in-store services as a precaution. Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations. We appreciate your patience.”
A company spokesperson added: “As soon as the incident was detected, we activated our response protocols and are working with external cybersecurity experts.”
Meanwhile, Victoria’s Secret and Pink physical stores remain open as usual.
