Ressence unveils the TYPE 8 DE1 and DE2 – two limited-edition watches that fuse contemporary art with Swiss mechanical ingenuity, featuring the distinctive visual language of German artist Daniel Engelberg.

In an increasingly saturated market of fleeting collaborations, Ressence dares to go further with the launch of the TYPE 8 DE1 and DE2. Limited to just 40 pieces each, these editions reaffirm the brand’s commitment to emotional, boundary-pushing horology. Born from a creative partnership with Daniel Engelberg, these timepieces do more than tell time – they transform it into living art.

Both models draw direct inspiration from Engelberg’s Inside Out‘ series, where concentric circles and optical gradients generate a hypnotic sense of depth. The DE1 showcases a vibrant pink palette, while the DE2 radiates in electrifying turquoise. Beyond colour, what truly captivates is the patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System) – a fluid, orbital display that allows the sub-dials to revolve with remarkable smoothness.

As a watch expert, I must highlight the mechanical precision underpinning these pieces: a modified automatic calibre, 36-hour power reserve, 31 jewels, 188 components, and a feather-light weight of just 40 grams – all encased in Grade 5 titanium with domed sapphire crystal. This is not merely design; it is mechanical excellence.

This release is far from a simple aesthetic reinterpretation. It is a bold statement of intent: at Ressence, time is not read – it is contemplated. Art ceases to be static and becomes perpetual motion, engaging in a constant dialogue with its wearer.

Priced at €25,000, both editions will be available from August 2025. And while production is limited, their impact on the world of artistic haute horlogerie is sure to endure.
