Miley Cyrus’s new album, ‘Something Beautiful’, has flopped on the charts and failed to meet expectations following the success of Flowers.
The latest album from Miley Cyrus, ‘Something Beautiful‘, is proving to be a commercial disappointment. After the global triumph of ‘Flowers’, hopes were high for another milestone in her career. However, the record has only managed to spend two weeks on the US Billboard 200 and a mere three weeks in the UK Top 100. It’s a blow that’s hard to justify, especially given the buzz leading up to its release.
Disney+ will attempt to salvage the project with the release of ‘Something Beautiful: The Film‘, a musical film described as “unique and full of fantasy”, set to premiere on 30 July after a brief stint in cinemas. Yet, there appears to be little genuine excitement surrounding it.
The video for Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved doesn’t help matters either. The track blends 80s-style saxophones, a Soulwax sample, and Albinoni’s Adagio in G Minor, topped off with a voguing session. The result is a muddled mix that the video fails to redeem: aesthetically restrained, overly earnest, and ultimately dull, with a late cameo from Naomi Campbell that barely rescues the whole affair.
All in all, ‘Something Beautiful‘ seems destined to become a mere footnote in Cyrus’s career.
