Gal Gadot broke down in tears as she remembered the 48 Israeli hostages still being held in Gaza during a charity gala.
The actress and producer appeared visibly emotional at the United Hatzalah gala held in Los Angeles, delivering a heartfelt speech about the Israeli hostages detained in Gaza since the 2023 Nova Music Festival attack. With her voice breaking, the Wonder Woman star urged the audience not to forget the victims still in captivity: “Their safe return must remain our urgent prayer and our shared mission.”
The gala, organised by United Hatzalah – an Israeli emergency medical organisation made up of Jewish, Muslim and Christian volunteers – brought together leading figures committed to the humanitarian cause. As guest of honour, Gadot used the stage to underline the values that have guided her since childhood: “I was raised with values of kindness, courage and responsibility, deeply rooted in Judaism.”
“What moves me most about this organisation is how it brings together people of all religions, cultures and backgrounds with a sacred mission: to save lives,” she added, stressing that United Hatzalah’s work transcends faith and borders.
Gadot also paid tribute to Yuval Raphael, Eurovision 2025 finalist, who received the Hero Award during the evening: “She could have been defined by tragedy, but instead she turned her pain into purpose and raised Israel’s voice to the world.” The actress praised her courage, calling her a symbol of hope against hatred, division and rising antisemitism.
This public appearance comes at a particularly sensitive media moment for the actress, following her recent comments on criticism surrounding her involvement in Snow White and the calls to boycott Israeli film institutions by certain sectors of the industry, who accuse them of being “complicit in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people.”
Amid a polarised climate, Gal Gadot raised her voice to speak of humanity, resilience and compassion: “I have always believed in the power of peace and coexistence. In such serious times, we must choose our words carefully – but more importantly, we must choose love and action.”
