The fight for survival takes on a visceral form in ‘Apex’, the new Netflix thriller that has just unveiled its first brutal trailer. Set against the vast, hostile landscapes of Australia’s outback, the film pits Charlize Theron against Taron Egerton in a lethal game where only one can emerge alive.
Theron plays a woman shaped by loss who seeks isolation in nature, unaware that she has crossed into the territory of a methodical and ruthless serial killer, portrayed by Egerton. What begins as an introspective escape quickly escalates into an extreme pursuit, where the environment itself becomes a weapon and physical and mental resilience are the only means of survival.
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the film commits fully to a raw, no-compromise cinematic experience. The director pushes his cast to their limits, particularly Theron, who once again demonstrates her uncompromising dedication to action cinema. During filming, the actress continued shooting despite suffering a fractured toe, reinforcing the film’s relentless realism and physical intensity.
