A fast-paced reinterpretation of the 1929 novel blends international conspiracy, sharp wit and an unexpected heroine for a new generation.
Agatha Christie: Seven Dials arrives on Netflix with a vibrant reimagining that updates the legacy of the Queen of Crime without betraying its essence. The platform has unveiled the first trailer for the limited series, an adaptation penned by Chris Chibnall that leans into high energy, razor-sharp irony and a youthful momentum rarely associated with classic Christie adaptations.
The story opens at an English country house during a party as elegant as it is reckless. What begins as a prank — eight strategically placed alarm clocks — turns tragic when one of the guests is found dead. From there, the narrative spirals into an international conspiracy where nothing is what it seems and every gesture hides a code. At the centre of the chaos is Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, a brilliant, fearless young woman with an uncommon instinct for danger, who is pulled into a race against time to unravel the mystery of Seven Dials, a secret society whose motives remain shrouded in shadow.
Far from the measured pace of the traditional whodunit, Seven Dials opts for an agile narrative, packed with witty dialogue and constant twists. Set in England, 1925, the series adopts a distinctly contemporary sensibility, foregrounding espionage, power and female identity. The result is a period thriller that moves effortlessly between classic suspense and modern adrenaline.
The cast reinforces this refreshed take on Christie’s universe. Mia McKenna-Bruce, a recent BAFTA winner, leads the series with a charismatic performance that redefines the amateur sleuth archetype. She is joined by Helena Bonham Carter as the formidable Lady Caterham, while Martin Freeman plays Superintendent Battle, a seasoned investigator who watches Bundle’s natural talent with a mix of scepticism and fascination. Completing the ensemble is Edward Bluemel as the enigmatic Jimmy Thesiger, whose ambiguity adds further layers of tension.
Directed by Chris Sweeney and produced by Orchard Pictures, Agatha Christie: Seven Dials will premiere globally on Netflix on 15 January 2026. More than a straightforward adaptation, the series positions itself as a stylised, high-energy rereading of the Christie canon — designed to captivate loyal readers while drawing in a new generation of viewers. A reminder that great mysteries don’t age — they simply learn to move faster.
