The actress experienced an emotional moment in Las Vegas as she reunited with Rita Wilson, her on-screen mother in ‘Raise Your Voice’, during her residency.

More than two decades after the release of ‘Raise Your Voice’ (2004), Hilary Duff shared a nostalgia-filled reunion with Rita Wilson, who played her mother in the musical drama. The moment took place backstage during Duff’s two-weekend residency at Voltaire in Las Vegas.

The 38-year-old artist posted a video of the encounter on social media, visibly moved as she told fans, “You guys, my mum came to my show tonight!”, before turning the camera to reveal Wilson. The actress responded with laughter and pride: “Honey, you killed it! You crushed it! You really raised your voice. It was amazing!”, playfully referencing the film’s title.

During the concerts, Duff has been performing ‘Someone’s Watching Over Me’, one of the movie’s most memorable songs, surprising even her former co-star. Rita Wilson later shared her own post, celebrating her “movie daughter” and praising the performance, while also highlighting the presence of Matthew Koma, Duff’s husband.

The reunion took place on the opening night of the residency, 13 February, where Duff also helped a fan stage an on-stage proposal. It was an evening that blended music, nostalgia and heartfelt emotion in true pop fashion.
