Cinema and fashion reunite in Cannes with a first night defined by haute couture, luxury jewellery and classic glamour.
The 2026 Cannes Film Festival has officially begun, and its opening ceremony once again confirmed why it remains the most important red carpet in European cinema. Between haute couture gowns, multi-million-pound jewellery and major Hollywood names, the festival’s first evening delivered some of the most talked-about looks of the season.
One of the standout stars of the night was Demi Moore, an official member of this year’s jury. The actress appeared in a sophisticated Jacquemus design paired with Chopard jewellery, including a striking choker that quickly became one of the most photographed pieces of the evening.
