Dior Beauty reimagines the world of Miss Dior through a delicate Japanese anime-inspired short film that blends luxury, artistry and heritage.

Dior Beauty has once again captivated the worlds of beauty and luxury with a creative project that seamlessly combines fashion, fragrance and animation. The French maison has unveiled an exclusive anime-inspired short film celebrating Miss Dior, the fragrance that helped establish one of the brand’s most iconic perfume collections. The production offers a completely fresh interpretation of the legendary scent, transforming it into the heroine of a visually enchanting story filled with imagination, elegance and references to Christian Dior’s remarkable legacy.

To bring this ambitious vision to life, Dior collaborated with the acclaimed French animation studio Remembers, renowned for its distinctive artistic style and its ability to craft emotionally engaging visual narratives. The film is directed by Ugo Bienvenu, co-founder of the studio, who has created a unique piece that merges the timeless aesthetic of classic Japanese anime with refined cinematic storytelling and exceptional artistic craftsmanship.

The finished film transports viewers into a dreamlike universe where the heroine embarks on a magical journey through the streets of Paris. Inspired by Miss Dior, the animated character floats above the city suspended by colourful balloons while discovering some of the most iconic places and symbols associated with Christian Dior’s creative world. The story effortlessly blends fantasy with reality, creating a poetic visual experience that perfectly reflects the romantic and sophisticated spirit of the fragrance.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is its extraordinary artistic direction. Rather than relying on the digital techniques commonly used in modern animation, the creative team revived a traditional Japanese gouache painting technique developed during the 1980s. This handcrafted method has become extremely rare because of the immense time, precision and skill required to produce each individual background.

Every landscape featured in the short film was painted entirely by hand using this historic process, giving each scene a rich texture and remarkable depth that digital tools struggle to replicate. The backgrounds were created by artist Louise Seynhaeve, one of the very few specialists still capable of mastering this intricate technique. Her work transforms every frame into a genuine work of art, where nature, architecture and light come together with exceptional beauty and authenticity.

The narrative itself is filled with subtle references to the history of Dior. Throughout the heroine’s journey, viewers encounter the famous roses cultivated by Christian Dior, paying tribute to the designer’s lifelong passion for flowers and gardens, which have always played a central role in his creative vision.

The film also honours Catherine Dior, Christian Dior’s sister and the original inspiration behind the Miss Dior fragrance. Her legacy remains deeply connected to the perfume’s identity, and the animated story gently acknowledges her importance through visual symbolism woven into the narrative.

Another key location featured in the film is Château de La Colle Noire, Christian Dior’s historic estate in the south of France. Widely regarded as one of the designer’s greatest sources of inspiration, the château has become synonymous with the origins of many of his most celebrated collections and fragrances. Its inclusion adds another layer of authenticity, reinforcing the emotional connection between the maison’s heritage and its contemporary artistic vision.

The animation is also enriched by several signature Dior design codes that fans of the brand will instantly recognise. Delicate pink bows, elegant houndstooth patterns and other iconic motifs appear throughout the film, creating visual links between the house’s rich history and this innovative reinterpretation of one of its most beloved perfumes.

With this project, Dior Beauty demonstrates how tradition and innovation can coexist in perfect harmony. Rather than simply promoting a fragrance, the maison has created an artistic experience that celebrates craftsmanship, storytelling and cultural inspiration. By embracing the visual language of Japanese anime while remaining faithful to its own heritage, Miss Dior enters a new creative chapter that honours its past while speaking to a new generation of audiences around the world.
