On May 24th, the French fashion house Louis Vuitton presented its Cruise 2024 collection on the island of “Isola Bella”.
Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière invites us to immerse ourselves in a world inhabited by deities and water nymphs, formed by rippling sand and water, iridescent scales, and mother-of-pearl surfaces. Ghesquière has remained true to his penchant for showcasing traditions and artisanal techniques while imprinting the collection with the futuristic tone we have come to expect.
“Isola Bella, framed by Lake Maggiore, has been the guardian of the Borromeo family’s legends for centuries,” highlights Louis Vuitton. “Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2024 collection docks in this palace on the water, where its mysterious gardens bloom in endless foliage.”

The creative director tells a story of self-assertion and inclusion through a series of characters originating from the depths of the waters, capable of renewal, transformation, and evolution. The designer presents a collection characterized by a succession of genderless designs. These creations are built upon a wide color palette of deep ocean blues, elegant pearl greys, and vibrant, cheerful pinks and coral oranges. They are juxtaposed with delicate blues, soft golds, and intense reds and blacks, symbolizing the evolving colors of water under sunlight. Additionally, the collection features an abundance of ruffles, gathers, embroideries, and intricate inlays of various elements, patterns, and motifs.
In this collection, we find sport-inspired pieces adorned with marine-inspired motifs such as shells, scales, and feathers of birds that always flutter above the water. There are also skirts constructed with shimmering scales, architecturally fringed short dresses resembling waves, transparent sweaters, jackets structured like shells and seashells, ensembles resembling coral, and long evening dresses with lines as fluid as the quiet waves of Lake Maggiore.

This Cruise 2024 collection presents “contemporary tales populated by drifting creatures who leave their aquatic homes to discover the wonders of the terrestrial world,” explained Louis Vuitton. “The Cruise 2024 collection is a narrative of transformation,” “symbolizing tailoring reinventing itself, and each one in contact with the other,” they emphasized.
