Timothée Chalamet dazzles at the Wonka premiere, dressing up as a chocolate bar and seamlessly merging elegance with striking creativity.

Timothée Chalamet aims to stand out as the Willy Wonka for the new generation, and what better way to do so than by dressing up as an authentic chocolate bar?

At the Wonka premiere in Los Angeles, Chalamet donned a custom-made Tom Ford suit in a deep brown shade reminiscent of a dark chocolate bar—think an 80 percent cocoa content, ladies and gentlemen. The Oscar nominee sported a sleek single-button blazer over a black turtleneck and fitted trousers, paired with black boots, also from Tom Ford. The Cartier aficionado adorned himself with jewelry pieces, showcasing a thick ring on his index finger, a Juste un Clou ring on his right ring finger, and a diamond-studded Panthère de Cartier bracelet. All in gold, naturally, just like those Golden Tickets.

Opting for a caramel-colored style at the London premiere, the actor largely forges his own path when it comes to red carpet fashion and public appearances, steering clear of the increasingly popular “method dressing” favored by stars. Instead, with his mesh T-shirt, latex coat, and black striped suit from Alexander McQueen, he continues to promote his films as Timothée Chalamet, not as Willy Wonka. Nonetheless, this doesn’t stop him from making more subtle nods to his predecessors. At the Wonka premiere in London, he sported a magenta velvet suit from Tom Ford, seemingly alluding to a middle ground between Gene Wilder’s original Willy Wonka in 1971 and Johnny Depp’s recreation in 2005.

Whether Chalamet consciously modeled his look in Los Angeles after a chocolate bar or not, it’s exciting to see him navigate between his personal style and his projects.
