Kristen Stewart dazzles in A24’s romantic thriller, ‘Love Lies Bleeding,’ exploring love and violence in March.
After her Oscar-winning performance as Princess Diana in Spencer, Kristen Stewart takes the lead in A24’s upcoming romantic thriller: Love Lies Bleeding.
The film follows Stewart, a reserved gym employee, as she ‘falls madly in love with Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder heading to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, plunging them into the criminal web of Lou’s family,’ as revealed by A24.
The intense trailer explores themes of revenge and romance, while the FBI appears to be closing in on Lou’s family drama. ‘I’m going to tell them everything you did,’ Lou warns her father in the trailer, to which he ominously responds, ‘Are you threatening me?’
News of the film was announced in 2022 through The Hollywood Reporter, describing it as an exploration of ‘desire’ and ‘ego’ in the ‘intense world of bodybuilding.’ At that time, Stewart’s counterpart, Katy O’Brian, had not yet been cast, as they aimed to ‘cast the lead as authentically as possible.’
Award-winning director Rose Glass co-wrote the script with Weronika Tofilska. Glass recently made her debut as a writer and director with the film Saint Maud, also produced by A24.
