The popular horror franchise “Insidious” is set to release its sixth installment next year, courtesy of Blumhouse Productions. Co-produced by Screen Gems, Sony has confirmed that the new addition to the horror franchise will arrive by the end of next summer.
Few details have been revealed about the upcoming movie, including whether series regulars Patrick Wilson and Leigh Whannell will be involved. The announcement of the sixth installment comes after the revelation of the series spin-off “Thread: An Insidious Tale,” directed by Jeremy Slater and featuring Mary Moore and Kumail Nanjiani. “Insidious 6” follows “Insidious: The Red Door” from last year, which saw the return of Wilson and Ty Simpkins. The fifth film grossed $82 million domestically and $189 million globally at the summer box office.
The franchise debuted in 2010 with an original film directed by James Wan, which grossed over $370 million worldwide. While the cast and leaders of the film have not been confirmed, Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions has been behind each of the “Insidious” installments. Though much is unknown, the next “Insidious” movie will arrive on August 29, 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
