Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman star in steamy scenes in A Family Affair, Netflix’s new romantic comedy, premiering on June 28.
Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman lead a new romance in the upcoming Netflix film A Family Affair, set to premiere on June 28. In the teaser, Nicole’s character, Brooke, falls for Zara’s former boss, Chris Cole, played by High School Musical alum Zac Efron. The conflict arises when Zara, played by Joey King, quits her job with Chris and despises him.
“Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Joey King star in a genuine mother-daughter love story,” Netflix wrote in an Instagram post. “Imagine telling the HSM1 Zac Efron that one day he would kiss NICOLE KIDMAN,” responded a fan. “This is like the comedic version of The Idea of You!” commented another fan.
From passionate kisses between the on-screen couple to Zara getting hit by a door, the film promises to be a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, especially thanks to the producers of Anyone but You.
“I know him very well. He’s self-centered and selfish… He’s going to hurt her, and I’ll have to kill him,” expressed The Kissing Booth star in the trailer.
Later in the trailer, the Aquaman actress shares with her on-screen daughter, “I love being your mother more than anything in this world. But I’m starting to feel things I never thought I’d feel again. Not since your father.”
“No! You did not just say that,” Zara responded.
Joining these actors, director Richard Lagravenese, screenwriter Carrie Solomon, and actresses Kathy Bates and Liza Koshy complete the cast. This film is not the first collaboration between Nicole and Zac, as they previously worked together in the 2012 movie The Paperboy.
With this film adding to the long list of projects in the triumphant career of the 56-year-old actress, Nicole was praised by Jennifer Aniston in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, thanking her for her support. “When we made that movie in Hawaii [Just Go With It in 2011], you [Nicole] helped me through a lot of tough things I was going through… Having that community is very helpful.”
