Selena Gomez reinvents Gigi Hadid’s Versace runway look on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, bringing her own unique and elegant style.

A Versace look so good that Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid couldn’t resist wearing it. On Wednesday night, Gomez donned a chic ensemble from the Italian brand to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The surprise? Hadid modeled the same look just four months earlier.

Fresh off a win at the Cannes Film Festival, Gomez was seen heading to the Kimmel set in a shirt-dress from Versace’s Fall 2024 collection. Her outfit featured sheer panels at the top flowing into a faux white-collared shirt detail. The lower half of Gomez’s look aligned more with the classic LBD (Little Black Dress). The dress showcased a sweetheart neckline, gold buttons, and blazer-style pockets. Working with stylist Erin Walsh, Gomez accentuated her runway choice with a sculptural handbag by Aupen, jewelry by Simon G, and Versace shoes with bows.

While Gomez’s fashion has varied across different styles recently, she seems to have developed a particular fondness for “Ladies Who Lunch” looks like this one. The singer and actress sported a similar preppy moment, courtesy of Self-Portrait, at Cannes and channeled the “Swans” with a very feminine Oscar de la Renta look earlier this spring.

However, on the Versace runway, Hadid brought a completely different vibe to Gomez’s look. The supermodel showcased the hybrid LBD and shirt combo during Milan Fashion Week in February. Instead of fully buttoning up the piece like Gomez did, Hadid left a few buttons undone, flaunting her famous legs. The model also accessorized with moto-chic leather gloves and a silver-embellished handbag that she carried in hand. A bold black eyeliner added an even more grunge touch to the look.

It’s always fascinating to see how celebrities and their dedicated stylists reinterpret pieces that originally debuted on the runways of Paris and Milan. Sometimes, they completely reimagine those pieces. Mostly, as in the case of Gomez and Walsh, they make small alterations to the clothing, like buttoning that last gold button and forgoing Hadid’s biker gloves.
