Inditex is advancing in the construction of a wind farm in La Coruña, with an investment of 21.7 million euros, to enhance its sustainable self-consumption.

Inditex is moving forward with its project to build a wind farm at the ‘Puerto Exterior de La Coruña,’ with an investment of 21.7 million euros. This self-consumption project focuses on meeting the energy demands of the multinational’s headquarters in Arteixo, Galicia, as well as those of the port itself. The installation will feature three state-of-the-art wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW, totaling 18 MW at the connection point.

In 2021, Inditex established the company ‘Inditex Renovables SL’ to manage this and future sustainable projects. The energy generated will be distributed between Inditex’s headquarters, the port, and excess energy will be fed into the electrical grid, providing additional revenue for the company. The installation is expected to start operating in 2025, with an estimated lifespan of 30 years and an annual production of 52 gigawatt-hours.

The wind farm, currently in the public consultation phase for authorization and environmental impact assessment, is part of Inditex’s sustainability strategy, which commits to operating 100% on renewable energy and achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. This effort contributes to the energy and socio-economic development of Galicia and reinforces Inditex’s position as a leader in sustainability in the fashion industry, utilizing the local wind resource for an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient operation.
