The new preview of Dune: Part Three teases a major time jump, a pregnant Chani and a Paul Atreides consumed by power.

The universe of Dune continues to expand with the first major preview of Dune: Part Three, the highly anticipated third instalment of the saga directed by Denis Villeneuve. The new trailer has sparked huge excitement among fans of the franchise by showing the return of Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, now entering a much more complex, darker and emotionally charged stage of the story.

The new film promises to take the saga into more mature and political territory, moving away from Paul’s initial rise to explore the consequences of his transformation into emperor. According to the preview, Dune: Part Three will be set almost two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Empire, a time jump that completely changes the balance of power and places the protagonist face to face with the decisions that have defined his reign.

One of the moments that has generated the most conversation among fans is the presence of Zendaya as a pregnant Chani, an image that raises new questions about the future of the characters and the emotional weight their relationship will carry in this third instalment. The trailer also shows an intense argument between Chani and Paul, making it clear that the bond between them will be marked by pain, betrayal, distance and the consequences of a power that seems to have changed everything.

In this new chapter, Timothée Chalamet returns as a much colder, more calculating and tormented Paul. The young heir we met in the previous films has become a ruthless emperor, haunted by visions of imperial collapse and by the human cost of his own decisions. The story appears to pose one central question: what remains of Paul Atreides when absolute power forces him to sacrifice everything he once loved?

The film will also delve deeper into the role of Chani, who appears to be positioned at the centre of the new conflict. Her reappearance not only stirs up Paul’s past, but also triggers a vast conspiracy that threatens to destabilise the Empire. The tension between the two characters promises to be one of the major emotional driving forces of Dune: Part Three, especially after the ending of the second film and the fracture that was left unresolved between them.

The trailer teases a story marked by rebellion, distrust and the constant threat of former allies turned enemies. As discontent grows against Paul’s regime, new forces begin to move in the shadows, preparing a landscape of betrayals, revenge and political conflicts that could forever change the fate of Arrakis and the rest of the Empire.

Denis Villeneuve once again takes the helm of one of the most ambitious science fiction sagas in contemporary cinema, consolidating the visual and narrative vision that already turned the first two instalments into international phenomena. With Dune: Part Three, the director seems to be committing to a darker film, focused not only on the epic scale of the desert and the battle for control of the spice, but also on the moral erosion of its protagonists.
