Rita Ora moved the audience at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards with a heartfelt tribute to the late Liam Payne.
Ora dedicated an emotional homage to the late singer during the awards ceremony held on November 10. Serving as the event’s host, Rita Ora expressed her grief and admiration for her friend and collaborator, just weeks after his tragic passing.
“I want to take a moment to remember someone very dear to all of us,” she said, visibly moved. Payne, known for his time in One Direction and his solo career, passed away on October 16 following an accident in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31.
Ora highlighted Liam Payne’s kindness and generosity, recalling how he lit up every space with his joy. During the tribute, a video clip honoring the singer was shown, featuring black-and-white images accompanied by the song “Night Changes.”
The two artists collaborated on the 2018 hit For You. Since his passing, Ora has expressed her deep sorrow, dedicating words to him in concerts and on social media. “He had the kindest soul; I will never forget him,” she wrote on Instagram.
